For the @tmaappreciationweek
Favorite Major Character: Jonathan “Jon” Sims, aka. the Archivist
I am not a brave man. I believe I am starting to come to terms with that fact, but I am, in certain circumstances, a very stubborn one.

It’s the beginning of TMA Appreciation Week!
@tmaappreciationweek
I won’t have something for every day and they don’t 100% follow the themes but I have a few things in mind to show my appreciation for the show <3
We’re starting with a pre-canon one-shot ft. Gertrude and her worst enemy…. having to be social at a work event
Enjoy!
~
Throughout her many years of service, Gertrude had fostered
a habit of never attending the Institute Christmas party.
There were always far better uses of her time, and the idea
of socialising with ignorant co-workers didn’t hold any particular appeal for
her.
As she stepped into the grand library space where the event
was already in full swing, it was gratifying to see she had the right of it.

Rating: Teen And Up Audiences

Relationships: Jonathan Sims & Martin Blackwood
Characters: Jonathan Sims, Martin Blackwood
Additional Tags: set in S1, Friendship, Pre-Romance, Hurt/Comfort, (In a matter of speaking anyway), Fluff, tma appreciation week
Summary:
As part of their recent transfer to the Archives, Elias announces that the entire archival crew must have their photo IDs re-taken. Jon is only mildly annoyed by this - what bothers him much more is Martin’s bow tie, sitting askew around his neck. He must fix it. It’s a matter of decorum.

For Season One of TMA Appreciation week! Some fun little office dynamics between the S1 crew (that got unintentionally feelsy, oops)
tifaria:
I missed the first day of @tmaappreciationweek but I definitely wanted to finish this up for day two! I posted this sketch quite a while ago, and it’s not as polished as I’d like it to be, but I’m happy with the overall mood of it. Have some season one Jon, working too late and trying way too hard to be taken seriously.

Tma appreciation week day 2: season one
Plot twist he’s being completely serious
Before it Breaks
wordsintimeandspace:
After Prentiss, Jon is scared and hurting and more than a little
paranoid. Although he hasn’t recovered yet, he starts investigating his
employees - only to end up on Tim’s couch when he collapses. It might be
his only chance to fix what is not yet entirely broken, if only he can
shake the suspicion that Tim is a killer…
Jon&Tim, rated T, around 4300 words. Read on AO3! This was written for day 3 of @tmaappreciationweek.
Jon isn’t quite sure what he was thinking.
Well, no, that’s not quite true. ‘I need to know if anyone wants to kill me’
was the thought that made him bolt out of the flat this morning. He
just isn’t sure why he did it like this, after barely two hours of sleep
and running on nothing but paranoia induced adrenaline.
Now that the adrenaline is wearing off, the pain and fatigue that
still remain after Prentiss’ attack are hitting him so hard that he can
barely stand upright. And he’s nowhere close to home - he nearly made it
to Tim’s house by now. Earlier, he thought this was a good choice to
start investigating the people at the Institute. Close enough that he
could walk instead of taking the tube and suffering the writhing crowd,
and familiar enough that he knows where to hide so he can watch the
house without raising suspicion.
Now, Jon has to admit that both parts didn’t really work out. He
clearly was in no shape to walk all the way, and he’s far too aware of
all the people staring at him.

Day 4: Favorite Ship/Season 3/Headcanons
Rating: T
Content Warning: Statement Hunger/Addiction
When Jon came back to his office after months away, with gravedirt still under his fingernails and blood still drying on his throat, he stared at the pile of tapes on his desk for a very long time.
I’ve left some tapes for you in your office, Elias had said as Jon left, still wearing the calm, self-satisfied smile that had been plastered on his face through their entire confrontation, You’ve been away for quite awhile. I suggest you start catching up.
Jon’s first instinct was that Elias could go fuck himself. He had been ‘away’ because Elias had murdered an old man in cold blood and allowed Jon to be blamed for it, so Jon really wasn’t keen to listen to any of his suggestions.
Still, he couldn’t help his curiosity (he never could), so he looked over the tapes. Most of them were neatly labelled in Martin’s handwriting, though one or two were written by Tim, and some were in a hand he didn’t recognize - Melanie’s, if he had to guess.
Case #9900112
Case #9770211
Jon brushed his fingers over the thin plastic labels. How long had it been since he’d seen Martin’s handwriting? It was an odd thing to be nostalgic for, but, well, he had been away for quite awhile. He could forgive himself for getting a bit sentimental.

The Sharkivist is In
For day five of @tmaappreciationweek, “what if” Jon has one of those plush blåhaj sharks from ikea
Read it on Ao3
The shark was sitting in his desk chair when Jon opened his office door. Actually sitting in it, with a “hello my name is” sticker stuck to it with “Jonathan Swims, Head Sharkivist” written on it in black marker. At first, Jon was annoyed, he had no idea where to put the shark as his office was already too crowded with filing cabinets and boxes of miscellaneous statements. Then a small, petty voice inside him whispered that he should just… go along with whatever scheme that the others had hatched. So Jon turned around and walked out of his office, sat down at one of the unoccupied desks, and pulled out a book from his bag.
There was a collective muttering from his assistants and Jon did his best to hide his smile. Tim was the first to speak up, his expression cheerful but there was a definite glint to his eyes. “What’re you doing out here, boss?”
Jon continued to read for a few seconds- for dramatic effect of course- before glancing up at Tim. “Oh, sorry. Were you talking to me?”
“Yeah,” to Jon’s delight the assistants seemed confused. “Why aren’t you in your office?”
“It would appear,” it was getting harder to keep from smiling. “I’ve been demoted. Someone else was in my office, and he seems to be doing a rather good job, so…” With a shrug, Jon returned to the book. “I guess I’ll wait to see what he wants me to do.”
