For Day 1 of @tmaappreciationweek and I went with my Favorite Major Character
When I first got into The Magnus Archives I thought Nikola Orsinov was gonna be my favorite character in TMA because I loved the videos people made on tik tok with her voice lines and Nikola cosplayers are amazing, but I only got through a few episodes before I started really liking Jon and it all went downhill from there.

As part of their recent transfer to the Archives, Elias announces that the entire archival crew must have their photo IDs re-taken. Jon is only mildly annoyed by this - what bothers him much more is Martin’s bow tie, sitting askew around his neck. He must fix it. It’s a matter of decorum.

I always liked the way tma incorporated animals into its fear world-building, like in 111 when gerry talks about how human fear isn’t the only fear that matters I was only delighted bc it just felt so different to other ways I had seen horror and terror tackled before and I adore the concept that animal fear is just as potent and dangerous as human fear and that animals can be both victims and perpetrators of it- its not exclusively Flesh either! There is Hunt and Corruption and Death in the mix there and statements involving animals are always fun to listen to
I missed the first day of @tmaappreciationweek but I definitely wanted to finish this up for day two! I posted this sketch quite a while ago, and it’s not as polished as I’d like it to be, but I’m happy with the overall mood of it. Have some season one Jon, working too late and trying way too hard to be taken seriously.
TMA Appreciaton Week II is a prompt week to celebrate the Magnus Archives, the people behind it, and the fandom memories that have been created. This event will run August 6th to August 12th and feature fanworks for your favorite characters, scenes, ships, and more. Day 3 of @tmaappreciationweek featuring an au that i drew like once before this where Tim and Martin go clown hunting in season 3, and one of the many versions of tim i can never choose between as my Prime Tim
This is also a piece for the second volume of The Magnus Collection, but for a few reasons I’m sharing the piece here now!
After Prentiss, Jon is scared and hurting and more than a little
paranoid. Although he hasn’t recovered yet, he starts investigating his
employees - only to end up on Tim’s couch when he collapses. It might be
his only chance to fix what is not yet entirely broken, if only he can
shake the suspicion that Tim is a killer…
Well, no, that’s not quite true. ‘I need to know if anyone wants to kill me’
was the thought that made him bolt out of the flat this morning. He
just isn’t sure why he did it like this, after barely two hours of sleep
and running on nothing but paranoia induced adrenaline.
Now that the adrenaline is wearing off, the pain and fatigue that
still remain after Prentiss’ attack are hitting him so hard that he can
barely stand upright. And he’s nowhere close to home - he nearly made it
to Tim’s house by now. Earlier, he thought this was a good choice to
start investigating the people at the Institute. Close enough that he
could walk instead of taking the tube and suffering the writhing crowd,
and familiar enough that he knows where to hide so he can watch the
house without raising suspicion.
Now, Jon has to admit that both parts didn’t really work out. He
clearly was in no shape to walk all the way, and he’s far too aware of
all the people staring at him.
for Day 3 of @tmaappreciationweek I went with AUs and wanted to do a really short comic of how Jon and Martin meet in an AU where they knew each other before they got moved to the Archives cause fuck what Martin said about their relationship in MAG 199. After this, Tim and Sasha invited Martin to go to the pub with them and that’s how Jon and Martin become friends before the Archives uwu.

It was really hard to pick a favorite scene as I have so many favorites but this is one of my top choices. It was probably the best way to end Judes episode
So I havent had any luck making anything for the actual prompts of @tmaappreciationweek but I did manage to make this little Tim and Sasha doodle! I love them and their roles in the show. I hope I can manage to make a little bit more art to show my appreciation for TMA!

for day 3 of @tmaappreciationweek i took the prompt Alternate Universe so feast your eyes upon the comic form of a favorite bit from my Stoker Swap AU (which i am writing but maybe wont post idk) in which danny doesn’t go back to the opera house and instead ends up applying for an institute position instead of tim. despite the fact that he. doesn’t have a degree. in anything. he completely made up his qualifications. cue tim_distress.png
this scene is directly after danny did his interview with elias and got the job, hence the suit and celebratory popcorn.
For @tmaappreciationweek with Day 4, I’m going with Headcannons!
I realized I never really shared my personal gender/sexuality headcannons for the main cast who don’t have cannon ones (along with the ones that are cannon), so here’s all of them with a few extra characters.
I have SO many headcanons I’d like to draw (especially for season 3) and SO little time, so here’s a quick something for a small headcanon I have. I like the idea that Martin, for numerous reasons (but none really positive), started to dress in full business suits while working for Peter Lukas at the beginning of season 4

An unexpected (on my part) addition to @tmaappreciationweek. This wasn’t written with any specific prompt in mind, but it certainly does for my favourite ship!
Here we go, Day 3 of @tmaappreciationweek : Favorite Ship, Jon x Therapy XD (Okay, there’s a JonMartin hint in there!). You could probably also see it as a headcanon^^
When Jon came back to his office after months away, with gravedirt still under his fingernails and blood still drying on his throat, he stared at the pile of tapes on his desk for a very long time.
I’ve left some tapes for you in your office, Elias had said as Jon left, still wearing the calm, self-satisfied smile that had been plastered on his face through their entire confrontation, You’ve been away for quite awhile. I suggest you start catching up.
Jon’s first instinct was that Elias could go fuck himself. He had been ‘away’ because Elias had murdered an old man in cold blood and allowed Jon to be blamed for it, so Jon really wasn’t keen to listen to any of his suggestions.
Still, he couldn’t help his curiosity (he never could), so he looked over the tapes. Most of them were neatly labelled in Martin’s handwriting, though one or two were written by Tim, and some were in a hand he didn’t recognize - Melanie’s, if he had to guess.

Jon brushed his fingers over the thin plastic labels. How long had it been since he’d seen Martin’s handwriting? It was an odd thing to be nostalgic for, but, well, he had been away for quite awhile. He could forgive himself for getting a bit sentimental.

listen this should not be a surprise to anyone
i love jon, i love martin, i love jmart - they’re bitch4bitch romantics and i like them so much
because i started listening when s5 was airing i already knew they were together so that wasn’t a surprise to me - what was a surprise was how invested i got in the relationship, i love them as individual characters and hearing it evolve was a beautiful process, i love how much they care for each other and that care and their friendship can be traced back to s1
then in s5 we got to see them actually be together and yes it wasn’t always sappy romantic stuff and a lot of their conversations were hurtful or difficult but honestly their light-hearted banter when it happened was a much needed contrast to the grim tone of the final season
they would do practically anything for one another while chiding the other one for doing the exact same thing, they are both stubborn and loyal and so so in love
