Peter being the shorter one in LonelyEyes is objectively funnier because Elias doesn’t give a fuck about anyone’s opinions of him, least of all Peter’s, while Peter acts like an irrational pissbaby when Elias teases him. Elias could call Peter short one (1) time and Peter would spitefully come to all their future meetings with cuban heels on.

You know he’s spiteful enough to do this. The final lines of his statement are literally just ‘I was so salty about losing to Elias that I ran in here and now I’m gonna die’.

With how Jonah is with choice, with decisions, with seeing every threshold and knowingly to stepping through them to see what’s on the other side, I think he would get a kick out of making his new bodies choose their fate.

The thing is, it’s easy: Carve out your own eyes, and The Eye will replace them for you. You will become an incarnation of the It Sees Me, your blindness will be cured and you will see all that it Sees, and you will realize how truly blind your own sight was.

Jonah has led them on the path of conversion, they have become a new but devoted follower of their god. They know, they Know, enough to know the truth of Jonah’s words. But he’s kept them carefully fed, so used to enjoying the best cuts that they don’t crack open bones and dig into the marrow to get every last drop. They Know what Jonah says is true. They Know Eye will grant its Incarnation near immortality.

But they don’t understand. Not yet.

(When their new eyes are in place, they do. They fully and completely understand where their choices led them. Just as Jonah promised.)

One of my coworkers — I work in a veterinary hospital where we see wildlife and pet store animals, I swear we’re not serial killers - one of my coworkers was collecting eyes from dead animals, and putting them into a jar. She has even more jars of eyeballs at home.

i’ve only seen ppl do this twice in fanart and it doesn’t technically fit with canon but please let peter lukas be an undead sea captain. like grey and corpsely and constantly dripping wet with dead white eyes. please. for me.

okokokokokok ok so au where because jon smote (paste tense of smite) peter inside the foresaken, neither the end nor beholding could fully claim him

so he was in this quasi-undead forsaken limbo at the time that jon opened the door and completed elias’ fear summoning ritual

so he is present and accounted for in the post-apocalypse world and he is an undead sea captain with milky white eyes and grey skin and sea water constantly pouring off of him and he smokes a pipe

the trope of ‘this entity exists only because we think it does’ is so so so fucking good and cannot be overdone in my opinion

like the idea that you built the monster hunting you, that you invited the entity into our world, that your fear is what it feeds on, and that once made real, it cannot possibly be killed because you’re stuck in this loop of 'he’s real because i’m scared’ and 'i’m scared because he’s real’

I never really see people talk about the power dynamic between Peter and Elias, and I find it… interesting, and a little sad. Because it’s obvious Peter thinks they’re on somewhat equal ground, while Elias has spent their entire relationship building a cage around him with such expertise that Peter doesn’t even notice the bars. Not once does Elias do something at Peter’s demand. It’s always Peter giving in to Elias, over and over, until he finally sees how trapped he really is - but by then, it’s too late for him to do anything about it.

Thinking about 💕them 💞 (Jonah and The Eye, his devotion to it for hundreds of years, the way he brought it forth into the world, completing a Ritual that no one else had ever succeeded in, crafting Rituals for the Eye twice! And the Eye, in return, watching his death at their Archive’s hands, with all the fascination his own unrelenting gaze Watched the world with) 🥰🥰🥰

like literally jonah gave his life and then several more lifetimes after that all in service of his most beloved watcher does that kind of devotion not just make your hair stand on end

a devotion so total that he built himself an institute to preside over 200 years of ceasless watching. a temple, an altar, a feeding trough. a worship so complete that he made himself the beating heart of his seat of power, all dedicated to a singular dread power, all under its watchful gaze.

This is apropos of nothing, but I do think that Jonah’s powers have nothing to do with speech. He can’t do the Archivist’s question thing that forces truth from people’s lips. No, his focus is on eyes, on Seeing. He sees through any eyes he wants, and it’s eye contact with him that bares all secrets to his gaze, that allows him to force other people’s memories, gazes and experiences into the viewer’s mind.

And, see, I think The Eye could have interceded, perhaps even saved him, but It did not. And it was not out of malice, or because It lacked affection for Jonah Magnus. No, it was because It was curious. Because It had to know, to Watch and See it all.

Btw, not to fandomize every single thing and compare real people to fictional characters. But I was allowed today to witness the most Elias thing possible.

Someone’s pet rabbit came in on emergency at work (veterinary clinic) awhile back and was hospitalized for GI stasis. The owner has been monitoring the bunny at home now for a few weeks, and emailed us to tell us how everything was going, and made a Excel sheet detailing all of the bunny’s fecal output, measured multiple times a day with calculated averages per week, tracking when the bunny pooped the most as well as whether she was ingesting fur that showed up out the other side, with exact times and amounts of what medicine was given. The email they sent along with it was so detailed, with imbedded links to specific foods and treats the bunny was getting. Absolutely amazing. Totally Elias behavior if he had a pet tho

jonah magnus being trans is Such a big brain idea. The Eye is so heavily associated with Watching, but also being Seen. the dichotomy between the fear of being Seen by others vs the euphoria for being Seen for who you are is so inherently tied to the experiences of many trans people; something i assume that would ring especially true for someone raised in an ultra-conservative victorian england. it is no wonder that a man who’s desire for knowledge and desire/fear to be Seen would become such a prolific avatar of The Ceaseless Watcher.

I think the whole weed/og!Elias to eyelias/Jonah thing has untapped angst potential actually.

I assume Jonah kind of covered his tracks for why Elias moved up the ranks and you know what’s a perfect cover story? Secret relationship. Nepotism.

Idk thinking about the angst of Jonah pretending to care about Elias romantically or uh. Otherwise and then just like. Betraying him.

He’d probably hold their relationship over his head too. Feed the eye with his fear of them getting caught and then take over his body once he gets tired of it.

Idk man just thinking about Elias.

I really think Elias loves scheduling so much because he looks into his employees’ lives and he gives them time off for events that they never informed him of. It’s nice for them - they’ll get a day off for things like their child’s birthday. If they’re worried about missing money when they miss a shift, they’re scheduled to come in for a day that they normally don’t work to make up for it. If they’re not worried about finances, they just get given a day off. It’s so nice, but it’s also so creepy, because how did Elias know that they would need to have the morning off to help their father get to his doctor’s appointment? Their dad hadn’t even told them about it when the schedule was made!

The absolute worst part of Elias getting arrested for murder and Peter taking over as Head of the Institute, is that suddenly everyone needed to figure out how to actually ask for time off. They’ll ask their department manager, but the department managers will say, “I’d approve it, but I don’t actually make our schedules…”
