i think it’s important for villain enjoyers to maintain diverse ecosystems inhabited by the villains they will bend over backwards to excuse, the villains whose complexity in backstory and motive they adore without justifying all of their actions, and the villains for whom they go, “haha, yeah, it ruled when they [blew up that populated star system/hexed an infant/physically and psychologically tortured the kind of pathetic protagonist/etc.]”
