If you really think about it- The Lonely (and in general the fear of being alone) is something that ties a lot with the other Fear Entities because fear in general is largely entwined with the fear that you’re facing something alone.
For example- The Web. It’s the fear of manipulation, of the loss of your free will. If you believe you’re being manipulated- and thus unsure of who you can trust, if there even is anyone you can trust- you are alone in the sense you have no one you can truly believe in. If that is the case you are alone because there is no one you can trust even if you have family and friends around you.
Same thing with the other fears such as The Spiral and even The Stranger- both of these fears can intersect with one another, but they can also be related to The Lonely. When you believe your mind is playing tricks on you- who can you rely on? When everything feels like deception and a trick of the mind- who can truly relate to what you’re feeling, when they don’t understand what exactly you’re going through? You will feel isolated, which is another manifestation of the Lonely.
Same thing applies with the other Fears even though its not quite the same. Fear of the Buried- in the literal sense of being buried, there is no one around to help you from being crushed and you suffocate alone with no hope of salvation. Fear of the End- we all face death alone, no matter if we die with loved ones around us, in the End you alone face your own mortality.
To summarize; The Lonely can be linked with so many of the Fears because fear, in many cases, largely relate to the feel of being helpless and alone in your own struggle and pain and mortal danger, with no support and no one to save or help you
EXACTLY!!
Perfect example of this is The Sick Village- not only are you terrified of catching this deadly corrupting disease you’re also worried people will find out you have it and so you isolate yourself from everyone. You’re alone! Self isolated! Unable to open up to anyone in the fear of being people knowing about your ailment!
The Lonely is one of the most ironic thing in TMA. The fear entity most tied with the other Dread Powers.
