as much as i love all the doe-eyed tragic lovestory barnabas interpretations i think we all need to remember that the first thing this man did when he was told to pay a debt was saying “fuck you, see me in court, it’s not like they’d side with you anyway” and im sorry but this absolute prick of a person being the one jonah cherished to the point of keeping his bones for a century makes far more sense then a doting sadboy lover
