Yuri on Ice - 1890 AU

1890, World Universal Exposition in Paris

Japanese delegation arrives at the world fair of cultural and artistic achievements for the first time. Among them is a young painter Yuuri Katsuki, who apart from presenting his works to the world hopes to meet his idol and source of inspiration, russian symbollist painter Viktor Nikiforov. Katsuki receives a rather poor audience feedback, and drowns the failure in glasses of absynth at the closed afterparty for artists in one of the Parisian alleys. Nikiforov, rather bored of the event and struggling with creativity crisis, finds himself suddenly occupied (and enthralled) by young drunk foreigner.

After a few months, he finds an ink sketch of himself tossed in the corner of his suitcase, painted in unmistakeably eastern manner. Yuuri gave it to him in the bar while they were drinking. He contacts his patron and does whatever it takes to find out the whereabouts of the mysterious author of the sketch. After some time, it succeeds - a painting done in the same manner appears at one of russian art sales. He buys the painting. He tracks it’s origin. He jumps on the Siberian Railway in search for author of the sketch and in hope of finding his lost inspiration in the land of cherry blossom.

…i and @defineari have a series of unfinished illustrations for this au (which is a shameless excuse to explore both viktuuri as well as art history) and i may even start completing and posting them. We have also a lot of ideas for other characters and further events. Yay for art!
