William was infected, but his will to live, even when he was losing his sanity was so strong that Outsider gave him his mark. I’m still figuring out what powers he has. I’m sure he has some kind of an improved version of dark vision, which he uses constantly because he’s blind because of plague, he also has the swarm of rats, but he uses them not as an attack but as his little assistants.

During the plague with Outsider’s magic at hand he helps other infected.

This is his design after the plague, when he was found by either Piero or Sokolov. You see, at that moment, Outsider’s mark was kinda the only thing keeping William alive (and keeping his hair in place too). So, as scientists, they were both curious how that could be, and took him in.

I didn’t make a fullrender of his appearance during the plague, but I have a little sketch here!
