I couldn't find this answer in your blog so I hope this is okay to ask. How do you feel about artists selling fanart and merch of TMA? I saw somewhere that this show was copyrighted, but I know they're a lot of artists in this fandom who make a lot of cool art and with many different character designs. And if it is copyrighted and no one should sell anything related to tma, is there a specific design that is copyrighted, or just anything that draws inspiration from the show?

Hey so I get this question a LOT and so will give an answer here but it will be the same as previous.

2) Our Podcasts are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Sharealike 4.0 International license which means People can duplicate, modify copies, sample it and generate fanworks on condition that:
a) NO money changes hands. A lot of people interpret this to mean they can’t make profit but it actually means money isn’t allowed to be involved in anyway, even to cover costs. (it’s just too easy to exploit loopholes if that isn’t the case)
b) Anything based on our work must ALSO be shared with the same licensing.
c) Full credit needs to be given to the original work including links on where to find it etc.
d) People do not claim we endorse their work

3) We can choose to allow certain extra stuff on a case-by-case e.g. we have granted certain permissions for charity or educational use etc.

In my experience our fandom is pretty respectful (and creative!) but there are a few known bad actors who keep trying to flood online stores with copycat merch and spam duplicate Youtube and podcast content for a quick buck.

To be clear though this is a personal social media channel not a business correspondence so this post is NOT an official edict or anything.

TLDR:
As a gross over simplification, if the fanwork is distributed with the same licensing, with no money exchange and the original content is credited properly, it’s fine. Otherwise they are open to legal consequences.

You get a dash in Season 2 but that’s all. I can’t go full ham as the episode is already recorded.

who is your favourite character in the magnus archives universe (multiverse?)

can be in terms of favourite to write and create or just general enjoyment

S1 Alice is the most fun to write in Protocol.

MAG Distortion was most fun to write in Archives.

Gertrude is probably the most interesting character.

But an actual favourite in Magnusverse? Not really.

Yes I think I wrote intro and outro for all special content in Archives and Protocol. Certainly if it’s in my voice for those, I wrote it.

Im currently plotting a dnd campaign themed after the Magnus Archives. Should be great fun. I was wondering if you had any fun ideas or inspirations you would be willing to share?

1) Stuff gets weird with an up cast seeming spell.

2) Anything can be a mimic

3) Golems are scarier than people think.

4) The party laughs at one CR ½ enemy. They cry at 100. Remember this.

5) Combinationa of the above can get very weird.

6) Even a minor change to a well known monsters behaviours or abilities will throw your players for a loop

What is the least annoying character you've ever played in an RPG?

A kobold open-hand monk called Pok who belonged to a sect that believed life is only really lived in mortal peril so happily put themselves in constant danger whilst having the BEST time. He had a massively high wisdom and somehow they always seemed to make a lot of sense for someone so hell-bent on self destruction.

I get asked this a lot and I will answer truthfully.

I have considered it. How it would work, what it would be about. The truth is though I have yet to have the eureka moment I did with Magnus for further content and it may not even be logistically possible. Certainly it would be very different.

Also time spent on that would be time taken away from working on new stuff like the dark fantasy novels I have been developing and other stuff I can’t talk about.

TLDR: Possible but no time soon and it would probably be unrecognisable.
