so I was wondering if you would share what kind of APV Gertrude is? I'm imagining Panther, but I was curious if you had a particular one in mind?
Cheers!
Ha!
So there was a bit of disagreement on this over at Rusty Towers.
When writing it I was thinking it was obviously something along the lines of an FV432 but then our US editing team were like… “You mean a humvee right?”
Turns out our editing team and I have radically different conceptions of what constitutes “armoured” and it was a case for passback on some SFX :)
i have a question and i’m sorry if it’s been asked already but
have you ever thought of adapting tma into tv series?? feels like it has an amazing potential even though it might be hard to transfer all the podcast loveliness to the screen 🤔
an anthology of interconnected horror stories with a background office drama?? yum yum yum
have a nice day, mr bossman and thank you for making my life a little bit spookier!
Okay I get this question a lot so may as well answer it.
Yes, yes we have.
Let’s just say that covid + writer’s strike + LA Burning Down + the streaming wars + actual wars + other drama is making it tricky for anything original to get made unless you do it in-house.
I have a question about the Protocol transcripts. In Ep. 31, the transcript says upload data sulpher.becher, but the audio says discard data sulpher.becher. Is this a typo, or do the transcripts intentionally include details that differ from the audio?
Hey,
Been getting this one a lot. To be clear:
There was just a mix-up and we’ll be fixing the transcripts in due course, we’re not getting all deliberately meta on you here.
It’s a fun mistake I’ll probably talk more about later but not worth hanging your entire red-string theory on.
When in doubt audio reigns supreme and transcripts are intended as a tool to assist listening.
who are the voice actors for Warden Heidi and Warden Dave in the newest magp episode? They’re uncredited and I recognise the voices
Hey,
Thanks for the heads up! Looks like an admin error from transferring data from premiere to public feeds. Team are updating shownotes now but just to answer you properly:
Amy Brown is Warden Heidi and David Ault is Warden Dave
well here’s another question that you probably get a lot and once more again (sorry)
Is there any possibility of graphic novel versions of TMA/TMP? I am seeing all the beautiful art from monte cook/tangled in the web and it is making me crave comic versions in a way I never have before.
thanks!
Working on it.
Good example actually.
In principal graphic novels should be an obvious move but often when you make an agreement involving rights with a third party they can have conditions like “we’ll make X but you can’t make Y until we’re finished.”
It just so happens that everyone has strong opinions on graphic novels meaning they are often a “frozen” right, same for books. This basically is an agreement that no-one will make one until everyone with a stake unanimously agrees.
Rest assured that when we can do this without issue (pun intended) I intend to push for it.
I got a friend undertaking a project, and it got me insanely curious about your opinion on the Archivist's sanity in Archives,
Would he have recorded multiple statements on the same tape and chopped them up (like 1.5 episodes per side of cassette), or would he have recorded one statement per cassette?
Interesting.
@jonnywaistcoat may disagree but I suspect he would initially attempt to record one Statement per Cassette to “bring this pile of poorly organised nonsense into some semblance of respectability” only to realise a) He is gonna need a LOT more cassette tapes and b) shit doesn’t stay recorded properly!
Once he realises that, all bets are off. I like to think he eventually got into the habit of just recording then realises after like 6 months that there is always a fresh cassette in there for him but he never put one in there.
Do you think Norris and Chester would start randomly playing Daisy Bell, like the version from the first computer to sing, and it creeps out everyone in the office
Or is that too disgustingly romantic even for them jxndbd
Reminder that there is less than 75 hours left to back the Magnus Archives RPG expansion “Tangled in the Web” and get the backewr rewards.
Also, to answer the question I keep getting asked, if you want the backer rewards you have to get them through the crowdfund. If you are waiting for them to be made available for sale separately later you are going to be disappointed.
in the rqgg20 stretch goals q&a you did, you said you can never shut off your brain and are just running full speed all the time, and the only thing that can stop that during the day is playing video games.
i have the same issue and my therapist has actually told me to start playing games but i cant figure out which ones to play.
what games help you with that specific problem?
Hey glad to help!
So I prioritise two things when playing to turn off rumination (not for abnegation which is different): 1) Immersion. It’s impossible to be both immersed and ruminating. Brain can’t do it. So more immersive the better. For me that normally means 1st person, non-repetitive, good graphics so… active RPGs with lots of in-game story telling rather than cutscenes. 2) Active. I really struggle with “chill” games. They don’t occupy enough of my brain and so the more attention it needs, the better. VR even more better better. 3) Systematic. So this one is a double edged sword. If its something that allows you to build interlocking systems its perfect. (think factorio or cities skyline etc.) The issue is though, it can trigger the hyperfixation so, it’s only really a good option if I have some safeguards against overplay. (I personally avoid MMORPGs when it comes to this type of play because they are essentially designed to trigger overplay and that leaves me worse off in the long run).
im in love with it and wont stop annoying my friend with it
6.02x10^23 my beloved
It’s pretty bloody nifty.
I wanted to work it into Protocol as an eldritch thing but didn’t find a good opportunity in the series Bible so now pretty unlikely unless inspiration strikes.
Blame Jonny. (Not because it’s his fault or anything, just on principal y'know?)
Hi Alex! I got tickets for the live show (which I'm so excited for!) but I was wondering if we have a rough time estimate of the show so I can book my tickets back home! Thanks so much :)
(p.s. I am soooo excited to see it!!)
I am seriously limited in what I can say due to A) not being the logistics head for it and B) Confidentiality requirements.
That said: Show is written to be 2 hours + interval. However, it’s not in physical rehearsal yet so there is big wiggle there (likely upwards). Also depending on your ticket I believe there may be some additional bells and whistles attached and I don’t know if those will happen before or after the show etc. (I don’t even know the start time off the top of my head!)
Treat it as a normal UK theatre show but not a West End Musical that lasts for like 5 hours and you’ll be in the right ballpark. It’s better to end up booking transport home too late rather than too early tough and for questions like this your best bet is probably mail@rustyquill.com (unless they say otherwise!)
Probably Caesium? Because it just sits there in oil all like “hey dude, I’m chill, lick me.” But you should not lick the Caesium for it is deceitful and tastes of bang.
Honourable mentions: Magnesium is fun. Helium is pretty great but we’ve wasted so much of it. Tungsten is obviously up there for all the boring reasons.
why did you decide to start the introduction from ep74 on in rqg like a second later than in the 73 episodes before my autism doesnt like it :(
So stuff like this bugs the crap out of me too.
It’s been years so best guess? Error I only spotted after upload and insane turnaround times meant I could not go back and fix.
You think that’s bad, I didn’t even add the correct number of gunshots in a canonical murder in a different show. Whole theories were temporarily based off my incompetence.
