I am sorry to say that my dreams of a swarm of literally flaming puppets in The Hilltop theatre show are now officially over. Apparently there has to be some space in the venue for audience to sit that isn’t on fire.
So I don’t normally engage in this sort of posting but I have to admit, this one got me laughing because its exactly the tone I was going for. I feel seen in the best way possible.
With 10 days left to the Hilltop and no new TMAP episodes foreseen for the intervening time I want to ask: what knowledge of TMAP is assumed of the audience? I am all caught up but the person who is coming with me has only listened to the whole of TMA and not a single episode of TMAP (as they wanted to wait and binge the finished podcast). Would they profit more from the spectacle if they [a] were all caught up (i.e. until TMAP50), [b] listened to TMAP until some earlier episode, or [c] would it be enough to come in with just the knowledge of TMA?
So this is right on the cusp of being an RQ question rather than a me question but I’ll allow it.
Although its not necessary to be up to date on Protocol, yes you will gain more if you are up to date. That said we have primers of relevant information from Protocol and Archives in the program if people want them.
I will warn you though that Hilltop does have some spoilers for Archives although its less than you might think.
hello! I don’t know if this is an RQ question, but how important to the Magnus Protocol canon will the Hilltop play be? In other words, is it like the fluff episodes where it’s a fun extra, or will the plot/info in it be plot-important going forward?
So Protocol will be totally coherent and intelligible without seeing Hilltop. That said, Hilltop is canonical and will give some extra insights.
In a similar vein to the last ask you responded to, I’m going to Hilltop with a friend who’s been procrastinating the last three eps of Archives for almost a year now. (In fairness to them, I am a similar — if not worse — brand of crazy and got stuck in between acts 2 and 3 of s5 for several years). Do you have any words of encouragement for them to finish Archives before Hilltop and avoid any potential spoilers for Archives that may be in Hilltop?
In that specific situation, I pretty strongly suggest listening to those last three episodes. You’ll be glad you did.
