I love your art and am definitely interested in buying prints when I'm more financially stable but, if I may ask, why do you sell your art when you get nothing from it?
people kept asking me about prints, that’s all. my idea was that those people who were interested in my prints would satisfy their cravings, i would get redbubble-style amount of money (i.e. very little), order a couple of cute prints of my own with my inprnt balance to clear it out, and that would be the end of my printing adventure. i just wasn’t expecting the whole thing to be so popular.
it was actually yesterday that i realized that i should probably stop uploading new prints because at this point, looking at my inprnt balance that i can’t withdraw and thinking about how this money could have helped me to not have to choose between rent and meds is incredibly depressing. i’m very happy to know that people enjoy my artwork enough to want it on their walls, and seeing everyone’s pictures of my prints has been a delight in and of itself, but unless something drastic happens and paypal becomes available to me again, continuing to update my print store is very much feeding one company with zero benefit to me as the artist. i will probably keep my current prints up, but new stuff will have to wait until better times.

guys, i would really appreciate it if you’d refrain from leaving tags such as ‘i love this but actually this is what the character should look like [insert headcanon/canon description]’ on my art. it’s not a compliment and it’s really not pleasant to receive comments on how i should have drawn the art that i draw for fun and share for free, even if you frame it as something joke-y and light-hearted. same goes for saying that you wish it was colored/drawn in a different style/etc. while i appreciate your excitement about my art and realize that you’re coming from a place of enjoying it, this is not a commission and you’re not in a position to demand something, even if you add a 'please’ to it. i don’t mind requests, but please keep in mind that when you’re making one, you’re asking me to dedicate hours of work to something you, a virtual stranger, want me to do for you for free; the least you can do is be respectful about it.
Your art is so immaculate. I'm mesmerized everytime it shows up on my timeline. I have a silly habit to always blend everything to death but i've always found this a bit more rough, angular artstyle so striking, so I can only aspire to one day make something like you're doing. And don't even start on the colors, the contrast, values, your color choice blows my mind every time

hi, thank you!! i answered a similar question a while back, and now that i’m thinking about this one, it’s a little bit tricky to answer in a short way. what does ‘come up entirely’ mean? did i come up with the concept of 'pants’? no. did i come up with this color and pattern and cut combo? sometimes i do.
long answer is, if i copy/take heavy inspiration from an existing distinct ensemble, i state that in my post/thread on twitter; otherwise, it’s stuff that i come up with myself. and by that i mean:
i’m always looking at a lot of clothes for general inspiration! in the sense that sometimes i see a dress with a particular neckline and go, i’m gonna incorporate that shape into my next completely different outfit. i need a lot of foundation to build upon, but i like to use my resources creatively. it honestly all comes back to what i’m always droning about — references are good and every artist should use them because if you don’t study something, you won’t be able to draw it effectively. same goes for clothes! if you don’t know what types of sleeves exist out there, you probably won’t be able to create a lot of varied sleeve designs in your art. very few people can invent a computer from scratch; i certainly can’t. and there’s no need to! all possible types of garments have already been invented lads, you just gotta look at tons of existing stuff and you will be able to come up with a tunic, which has existed for centuries, but it will be a tunic design that no one has seen before.

They are the kind of cat that either squeaks (and squeaks alot)
or the very VERY deep Narr-ing cats (that make such sounds when it wants somthing only)
or a combo.
There is no between meows with this cat. Only extremes. Which is fitting for Esseks familiar.

hi! i love your work, your textures and lighting are always so beautiful. i wanted to ask— when working digitally, what sort of layer setup do you have? do you paint all on one layer or do you separate stuff out more? i love seeing your progress shots and i’m curious to learn more about your process!

my layer setup is fairly simple! more often than not the base consists of only three layers:
these are the layers on my Marion painting! i sketch on the lineart layer and refine the sketch to cleaner lines; this is what the lineart looks like here (it’s fairly light!)
then i paint underneath the lineart. the signature is usually on a separate layer cause i can never figure out where to put it right away, so i move it around quite a bit haha.
more complex paintings usually have more layers. i might sketch a certain complicated element on a separate layer before working on the lineart; some painted elements get their own layer too (for example, i often do body hair on a separate layer to make sure i get it right without messing up the main color layer). but the base is always lineart on top + colors underneath.
i wish only joy and happiness for you. you who have given the world artwork so beautiful that my mind sometimes thinks of as a beautiful person itself: someone who distracts me, who i seek out to gaze upon when i require assurance and comfort. i await each piece you create. i save them to my little computer to stare at and dissect. i do this for scarcely another artist but for a master. thank you. i moonwalk out of this ask box
