The way you use colour is mesmerizing!! Do you have any tips on improving colour use/ people you've studied from? Do you paint using traditional media and scan it or digital?
hi, thank you! π₯°
your second question is the easiest to answer so i’ll start from there: the absolute majority of the art i post on here is digital! i do occasionally do traditional art too though, usually with watercolors, markers, and colored pencils.
as for improving color use, my two big tips always are:
- read up on color theory and the theory of light if you haven’t already! practice and spotting ways to improve your art becomes Much easier if you know what hue, saturation, values, light, shade, reflected light, aerial perspective and all those other good things are;
- i believe figuring out your values at the very start of working on your piece saves a lot of headache later on. the color palette is incredibly important, but if your values don’t lead the viewer’s eye around the piece in the way you want them too, the composition instantly becomes less readable and engaging even with a super pleasing color scheme.
thanks again! π
