zmeess:

zmeess speedpaint, take two!

a line-art work in progress and the finished illustration side-by-side, depicting a lithe elf with dusky pink skin relaxing in the grass with an apple in one of their hands; there is a white python slithering around them and amaranth flowers swaying above. at the bottom of the two images are the words "line-art" and "full render", with an arrow pointing from the former to the latter.ALT

finally finished splicing together the recordings of this commission that i posted a while back 🍎

available to my monthly subscribers here! witness me rotate that canvas again and again 🀭

fanart of various characters from Critical Role, consisting of a number of studies of roleplay from campaign 3 episode 111. they're done in a semi-realistic style, focused on facial expressions and body language.

1. Jester is gasping in an exaggerated manner, her eyes wide and mouth hanging open.

2. Caleb is turning Ashton around with his hands on their shoulders so that he can see the glass portion of their skull better. He is saying "Oh, that is fascinating" with a focused and curious expression on his face.

3. Yasha is gesturing awkwardly with her hands and saying "How fun!" with a small smile on her face.

4. Laudna is showing off a ring on her finger, extending her right arm forward and propping it up with her left hand. She is smiling wide and saying "Imogen got me this ring!", the 'I' in 'ring' repeated several times to signify the sing-song quality to her voice.

5. Dorian is striking a pose with one hand on his hip, grinning winsomely and showing off the magnificent abs under his translucent shirt.

6. a Dorian head shot; he looks a bit lost and wide-eyed, his mouth pressed into a thin line. off-camera Caduceus asks, "mr Dorian, who's the most level-headed of your group of people?", to which Dorian replies, "uh, none".

7. a Beauregard head shot; she looks unimpressed and says, "I don't know you very well, and I hate new people."ALT

a bunch of studies from c3ep111! so many good bits in that episode, hope to sketch more soon

a digital hips-up seated portrait of an elven lady, looking at the viewer with a serene smile and holding an open book in her hands. she is petite and slender, with a youthful round face and big icy blue eyes with very small dark pupils. she has a blue-gray skintone, long pointed ears that are angled low, and a short fluffy bob of silver-grey hair. she is wearing an almost black purple dress with sleeves that are puffy at the top and flare out at the bottom. the collar of the white shirt she has on under the dress is decorated with a peachy-orange silk bow. the background behind her is dusty rose, with wide light grey brush strokes accentuating the character's silhouette.ALT

commission for @kingrhapsody, his necromancer Briar Essor! thank you for commissioning me πŸ’œ

a sketch spread depicting Caleb Widogast from Critical Role, based on and referenced from various bits of in-game roleplay. he is a freckled man with hair just long enough to put in a small messy ponytail. in some sketches he has a full beard, in some only a little bit of stubble. the drawings are done in a semi-realistic style and focus on the subtlety of facial expression. many are head shots, some are larger; one of them depicts him casting Acid Arrow, a magical arrow stretched between his arms, in a semblance of drawing a real bow. in another, he has one of his arms up in a tense gesture, casting Cat's Ire. in a third, he is being hugged by Beauregard, his head held close to her chest; he seems almost limp, accepting the hug with a thousand yard stare, while Beau smiles into his hair.ALT

another Caleb expression sheet, this time mid-campaign Caleb 🀩 same wizard, more friends! tried to keep the blood splatter setting and the beard level consistent with whatever was happening in the game at the time (in MOST of these at least)

another year full of purple! i remember that when i started assembling this summary at the beginning of the year i wanted to make sure that i picked diverse artworks that featured things other than the purple and orange wizards, but i gave up real quickly. not even because i haven’t drawn anything else (i have), but because i’ve been very happy with how a lot of those wizards have turned out. thanks shadowgast for sponsoring another year of creativity πŸ’œπŸ§‘

i don’t remember creating a particular new year’s resolutions list for art last year like i did the previous one, but regardless of that i feel very accomplished 🀭 i’ve started doing more studies, came back to traditional art, and picked up a lot of fiber crafts that i hadn’t done in years (i may have Caleb and Essek plushies that are waiting for a photo shoot).

hope to stay creative in 2025, and wish you all the same πŸ₯‚
