hello, I wanted to drop a quick note after reading the tags on your latest shadowgast art (what an incredible relatable mood, I have been agonising over a fic wip I'm close to posting but also terrified about), and I know folks on the internet saying how much they loved a thing you see flaws in doesn't necessarily help, but I wanted to let you know how much your art has brightened my day every time I've seen it.
so much of your art inspires writing that I would like to do, and I hope you can find a place to where you enjoy creating again. the design choices and colours you make for both of them are so rich and lovely. 💜
thank you so much for these kind words 🥺🥺🥺 i just. really like designing clothes for Essek LOL i see the somewhat affected grace with which Matt portrays Essek when the latter is trying to impress people and i think yeah that guy has a walk-in closet bigger than my entire bedroom
i have to be honest though, i do find positive comments really encouraging and helpful! like any child of neglectful and eternally disappointed in you parents, i respond really well to praise LMAO and while yes, i still remain overly critical of my work, seeing people point out all the things they like about this or that picture of mine really highlights the good parts and helps me appreciate my own art more, see it from other people’s point of view. that’s why i value positive feedback so much, it helps me feel more proud of my art. now, i wouldn’t say that’s an ideal situation; ultimately i want to become much more self-sufficient and be less dependent on other people’s approval, but such feedback actually helps with that too: the more i like my work, the more confident i am about it. all of that is to say, your message did make me feel better! i actually kinda like that picture now after everyone saying that it’s pretty damn good LOL so thank you very much!!
(also i hope you feel better about your wip too!! i am sending you all the internet hugs, if you like them of course)

i love essek's lounge wear in that shadowgast art so much. i wanted to ask what the inspiration behind it was or did you completely make it up yourself?
thank you!! in a general sense all the clothes i draw are inspired by existing outfits; i’m not as inventive as i’d like to be and i don’t have much background in sewing and creating sewing patterns, so i consume copious amounts of fashion photography to just get a sense of what kinda stuff is possible when it comes to clothes. and then i just mish and mash various elements in my brain in a way that i think is cool 😂 sometimes i do get inspiration from a particular outfit, but Essek’s loungewear in that picture isn’t inspired by anything specific! except for the tails of his overshirt, which are veeeeeeeeeery loosely based on the shape of the scissor-tailed flycatcher’s tail, in the ‘two pairs of large tassels with some space between them’ sense 🤭
