The way you use colour is mesmerizing!! Do you have any tips on improving colour use/ people you've studied from? Do you paint using traditional media and scan it or digital?
hi, thank you! 🥰
your second question is the easiest to answer so i’ll start from there: the absolute majority of the art i post on here is digital! i do occasionally do traditional art too though, usually with watercolors, markers, and colored pencils.
as for improving color use, my two big tips always are:
- read up on color theory and the theory of light if you haven’t already! practice and spotting ways to improve your art becomes Much easier if you know what hue, saturation, values, light, shade, reflected light, aerial perspective and all those other good things are;
- i believe figuring out your values at the very start of working on your piece saves a lot of headache later on. the color palette is incredibly important, but if your values don’t lead the viewer’s eye around the piece in the way you want them too, the composition instantly becomes less readable and engaging even with a super pleasing color scheme.
thanks again! 💜
I need you to know i have afopted your "essek and verin are twins" headcanon. It is So Good!!
(I can just picture! Essek, 22 min older, "yes this is my younger brother", Verin "Just because you were born b4 midnight doesnt mean you get to call me that")
((Essek talks about having a younger brother, so everyone gets whiplash from the double take when Essek's identical twin walks in))
HELL YEAH
i actually headcanon that the boys are fraternal twins, but honestly? with how massively different identical twins can grow up to be in their body type and appearance, i can totally see Verin and Essek being identical too, and i think that would be incredibly funny. almost the exact same hamsome face on the short floaty wizard Essek and the super tall for a drow and very athletic fighter Verin 😂
and yes, totally all the sibling bickering about whether that several minute window matters 💯 and the jam story is all the more cute to me when i picture both of them being the same age!
Mx. Zmees I'm in desperate need of your help. I'm playing a wizard in D&D and the party is getting new outfits, and I want a bitchin wizard mantle, but the internet is failing me for inspiration. I absolutely love how you draw Essek's outfits: do you have any sources of inspiration for wizard mantles?
thank you!! biggest source of inspiration: nature. just pick a funky fungus, a weird species of plant, an arthropod—anything that appeals to your eyes,—look at a bunch of pictures and incorporate the shapes and colors into your mantle 🙂↕️
