Your art is really really beautiful, you have such a solid understanding of characters and anatomy and I really hope to get to where you are one day. It looks like you might’ve gone to school for art (if not, then holy shit /pos), but do you have any favourite tips, techniques, or tools you’d be willing to share? I’ve been doing digital art for years as a hobby but I never really feel confident in what I’m doing lol

I have never gone to art school, no. :0 It’s tough for me to give advice since I have mostly just been scrambling through different art galleries and going “Oh I like that!” and adding it to my style/trying to figure out how people made it work. I would not be able to tell you exactly what it was that ended up helping me out, but I nonetheless will try!

My biggest advice would honestly be to surround yourself with artists, friends, etc., and remind yourself that you are allowed to ask for feedback & constructive criticism if you feel like what you are doing is off but you cannot quite pinpoint why. Getting a second opinion can be a great way of improving on mistakes you didn’t even realize you were making yet!
I would highly recommend joining art serves or reaching out to friends just to check if they could look over your work with you. The advice may not always be what you were looking for, but it could be what you needed at the moment.

Otherwise, I would highly recommend making an active effort to consume artistic media, like a huge variety - books, and social media… take your time to figure out what exactly it is that you would like to be able to do and ask yourself how you think you would like to get there.

Studying photography and always keeping references at hand to study is a good way of exercising a habit when it comes to the shapes you draw.

Just don’t pressure yourself into learning everything at once - even today I have to go “Oh I wanna learn to draw this big thing - but I cannot even draw this very small aspect of it… maybe I should make a study out of each singular aspect.”

Like I think 3 years ago when getting into DnD I just had to remind myself that I have only ever felt comfortable drawing animals and wanted to move past that, with more consistently humanoid characters… and although my results often felt off and are still not perfect today, keeping to it ended up paying off. 3 years in it’s been a blast getting to compare old sketches to recent ones and even just sitting down to redraw an old piece.
