I have a book from my childhood, a massive collection of Russian and other slav fairytales
it has a beautiful red illustration on the front, which looks so much like this

The illustration you’re talking about was done by ivan bilibin, prob the most famous fairytale book artist in russia in 19-20th centuries. his work is very recognizible for it’s style and my art was inspired by it
(i can go on forever on how i used my two last braincells to figure out his approach to color all cause “slav outsider weird but nice, bilibin style cool, gotta use”)
